What is happening?
- Yahoo!7 will be discontinuing development and support of Desktop Widgets as a product
- After May 01, 2012, the Desktop Widget Gallery website for downloading new and updated desktop widgets located at au.widgets.yahoo.com will not be operational.
- The existing Desktop Widget Engine, Yahoo!7 and 3rd party desktop widgets in distribution on desktop PCs and Macs, may continue to operate under a revised terms of use.
- The timeline and complete details are below.
How does this change impact consumers?
- After May 1st, the au.widgets.yahoo.com website used for downloading new and updated Desktop Widgets will no longer be available.
- Deadline for downloading new or updated Desktop Widgets is April 30th, 2012
- Existing Desktop Widgets may continue to work after May 1st, but will be subject to a revised terms of use
What should consumers do?
- Check the au.widgets.yahoo.com website for updated versions of your current Desktop Widgets or browse and select new widgets.
- Download new or updated Desktop Widgets by the end of April 30th, 2012
- Review the revised terms of use for use of Desktop Widgets after May 1, 2012
